Touring with friends is great
Sometimes the spirit of adventure is too immediate and insistent to be confined to a car, a boat, or a tour bus. Motorcycle tours give those with the true spirit of adventure and love of the outdoors the chance to experience the world firsthand, with wind in their hair and a grin on their faces. Formerly inaccessible routes can often be traversed on two wheels rather than four, and the cost of gasoline is considerably less!
Imagine riding in Africa along paths through the Savannah, inhaling the fresh, sultry air and keeping a sharp eye out for the dozens of wild animals roaming in their natural habitat. Motorcycles can go places even a Jeep can’t get to, meaning many guided motorcycle tours present exclusive chances to see nature at its finest.
Tours can include a thrilling night ride across the desert, or a grueling hard fought trip over terrible roads to reach an oasis. There is no end to the exciting adventures that await those who dare to brave the wilderness on a two wheeled mode of transport.

Getting a little native is good
Those who live in Europe and decide to take an African motorcycle tour may choose to have their own bike transported for their adventure, while travelers from more distant locales often opt to rent a bike. Either way, the plains and deserts of Africa present a tremendous lure to those who want to get close up to ‘the wild’ and create memories that can last a lifetime.
For a safe but exciting time, experience offloading is preferred. An experienced tour guide can help to an extent, but no-one wants to be the person holding up the group. The advantages to riding in a group for an African adventure include the fact that help is readily available in case of mechanical failure, and there is less chance of getting lost or stumbling into a sleeping animal that may view a motorcyclist as just another swift running prey.
While offloading is thrilling, plenty of fun can be had simply using a motorcycle as a mode of transport on a more tame, traditional tour from city to city. Short African motorcycle tours often take place in the Sahara, with stops at points of interest such as Tunisia, Algeria, and Libya in the south. Senegal and Mali can be reached to the west, and Mauritania and Morocco in the north.
Tours exist for riders with all levels of skill and experience, and packages are offered to suit each riders’ personal taste – whether it runs to a fast track across the desert or a treacherous ride through the Savannah. An African adventure experienced on a roaring bike is not to be missed, and can be looked back on fondly as a great moment in life’s journey – and hopefully, one to be repeated year after year. With annual races and rallies also held in Africa, astride a motorcycle is indeed the preferred place to spend vacation time!
